Drooling Dog Heads Home After 1,500-Mile Trek

SUPERIOR, Wis. (January 14, 2013)--Endo, a drooling, 115-pound mastiff, missing for more than a year from its home in Florida, has turned up at a Wisconsin animal shelter 1,500 miles away.

Shelter workers were able to contact Endo's owners, Denise and Tommy Hartzog, thanks to a microchip embedded in the dog.

Denise Hartzog told the Duluth News Tribune that Endo broke through a yard fence and took off.

Shelter workers think someone found him and took him to Minnesota where the dog changed hands again, escaped again, and was eventually found in Superior, Wis.
