SEATTLE (March 1, 2013)--Seattle is putting its 86-year-old fire boat Alki up for sale Monday on an online auction site, and the bidding for the 123-foot boat equipped with 16 diesel engines starts at just $1.
But it might not be a bargain.
The Seattle Times reported that the likely expenses for the new owner will include maintenance, moorage and insurance.
The steel hull is worn, and every year it's more difficult to find engine parts.
The auction will run 10 days on bidadoo.com.
