KOKOMO, Ind. (December 13, 2013) Someone dropped a gold Krugerrand coin into a Salvation Army red kettle in Kokomo, Ind., and it’s the fifth straight year that’s happened.
The Salvation Army sold the coin for $1,220.
Salvation Army Captain Dale Brandenburg said the anonymous donation is greatly appreciated, because the charity is falling short of its fundraising goal.
And, he says, it's always exciting to get a gold coin in a kettle.
