HILLSBORO, Ore. (October 30, 2012)--A hefty dachshund named Obie has been put on a diet by his new caretaker, Nora Vanatta.
The belly-dragging hot dog had weighed as much as 70 pounds, but Vanatta says he's dropped 15 of them.
Now, Oregon Dachshund Rescue wants to take Obie away from Vanatta.
The group claims she's exploiting the pooch for publicity, but a judge in Washington County, Oregon, ruled Vanatta can keep Obie for now.
The judge says it's not clear who actually owns the dog.
