ATLANTA (February 22, 2014) Daredevil tightrope walker Nik Wallenda has set his sights on a new goal--crossing the nearly 1,000-foot-deep Tallulah Gorge in the northeast Georgia mountains.
The gorge holds special meaning for Wallenda.
His great-grandfather Karl Wallenda crossed it on a high wire in the summer of 1970.
The younger Wallenda says he's already visited the gorge near the Georgia town of Tallulah Falls, Ga., and says he's considering attempting the feat within the next three years.
Wallenda spoke about his interest crossing Tallulah Gorge in an interview shortly after he successfully walked a tightrope over the football field inside the Georgia Dome in Atlanta on Feb. 8.
For Wallenda, the Georgia gorge would add to accomplishments that include Niagara Falls and a gorge in the Grand Canyon area.
