POTOMAC, Md. (May 8, 2013)—Three crooks who used a backhoe in an attempt to steal an ATM left empty-handed, police in Potomac, Md. say.
Security video showed that the would-be thieves wrapped a chain around the cash machine and then used the backhoe to pull the ATM from the wall of a Bank of America branch.
That much of the plan worked, but police say the men couldn’t get the ATM into their pickup truck and took off before officers arrived.
The ATM was damaged, but no money was taken.
Police are trying to identify the three men.
