CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (January 17, 2014) An Illinois man set a Guinness record for catching a softball from the greatest height.
Chris Shields snagged the ball after it was tossed out of an ultralight plane from a height of 250 feet.
Shields said the idea came from his 10-year-old daughter, Olivia, after she watched him catch a pop-up.
Shields told the News-Gazette he checked with the Guinness people, who agreed to create a new world record category.
He got his record fly on his second try last July.
