ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. (July 18, 2014) The suspicious device that led to a bomb scare at a power plant in Wyoming turned out not to be a bomb at all, but instead a mosquito trap.
Security guards spotted the object at around midnight Wednesday at the Jim Bridger Power Plant.
The device had wires connected to a small battery.
A bomb squad was sent to the coal-fired power plant, looked over the device and even X-rayed it, authorities said, before determining it was a one of the traps that are routinely put out to check for mosquitoes that carry the West Nile virus.
