AUSTIN (January 14, 2013)--A man who took a $40,000 SUV on an unauthorized test drive in Austin is accused of trading the vehicle for two rocks of crack cocaine.

Travis County Jail records show Carlos Sergio Valdes, 50, was held Monday on a theft charge.

Austin police arrested him on Saturday.

The Austin American-Statesman reported that Valdes asked to test- drive a 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe and then drove away without permission.

An affidavit says Valdes nearly called police nearly two hours later and reported that the SUV had been stolen.

Police later pulled over a woman who was driving the SUV and she said Valdes sold her the vehicle for two rocks of crack.
