MARSHFIELD, Wis. (July 17, 2013)--A masked robber thought the 96-year-old owner of a neighborhood grocery store in Marshfield would be an easy target, but he underestimated the elderly woman’s resolve.
Margaretta Wolf has owned the store bearing her family name for 54 years and she wasn't about to turn over her cash to the armed man on Monday.
The would-be robber ordered her to open the cash register, but she responded that while he could have all the Tootsie Rolls he wanted, she wasn't going to do that.
Wolf stood her ground even after the would-be robber flashed his knife.
The frustrated robber finally spotted a security camera in the corner and fled.
Police Lt. Darren Larsen said he wouldn't recommend taking the chance that Wolf took, but said he is glad she's OK.
