HOUSTON (October 25, 2012)--Truck driver Sundiata Bilal Simba has been charged with felony theft in the theft of about 1,500 cases of brew, prosecutors in Houston said Thursday.

Simba was held Thursday in lieu of $40,000 bond.

On Sept. 21 Simba left Houston for Corpus Christi, and then called his boss to say the truck broke down.

A warrant says Simba later called his boss to say he sold the beer because he needed the money.

On Sept. 25 Houston police received a tip about beer being sold from rental trailers.

On Oct. 2 officers found damaged beer boxes and wrapping with bar codes, including one that matched the missing load.
