TEXARKANA (March 22, 2013)—A woman who spotted a snake Wednesday night in the yard outside of a home near Texarkana is likely having second thoughts about what she did next.
Bowie County Sheriff's Capt. David Grable says the woman poured gasoline on the snake to try to kill it and that her son then dropped a lit match on the snake, setting the reptile on fire.
The burning snake slithered into some brush nearby the home, the brush ignited, and the flames spread to two homes, destroying one and damaging the second, Grable said.
Both homes were vacant, and no one was injured.
Grable says most snakes are harmless if left alone.
