PITTSBURGH (March 5, 2013)—Police have solved the mystery of what happened to a 200-pipe organ that was removed from a Catholic church in Pittsburgh along with all of its pipes.
Police say the former organist at the church says he took the pipes and the organ for safekeeping after the church closed following a merger with another church.
Until the organist came forward, worshippers couldn’t figure out why someone would take the instrument or how the thief could get the instrument out of the building.
The church isn't pressing charges.
