SPOKANE, Wash. (May 1, 2013)—A pilot in Washington State was accused of flying high when he overshot the Spokane, Wash., airport by about 50 miles, authorities said, and a jury agreed.
Prosecutors charged that Paul R. Roessler was drunk when he overshot the airport and then lined up on the wrong runway during approach.
Roessler’s blood alcohol level was well over the legal limit when he was tested after landing, authorities said.
His commercial pilot's license has been revoked and he faces a as much as 15 years in prison when he’s sentenced in July, although he's likely to receive a lot less.
