Price At The Pump Continues To Rise In Texas

HOUSTON (February 14, 2013)--Retail gasoline prices across Texas have increased an average of 5 cents per gallon in the last week, but they remain well below the national average, AAA-Texas reported Thursday.

AAA said the average price per gallon at the pump in Texas reached $3.43 this week while nationwide, gas prices rose to $3.63 per gallon.

Drivers in Dallas and Fort Worth are paying the most on average at $3.47, and drivers in El Paso are paying the least at $3.25.

AAA says mid-January prices at the pump were pushed higher by more expensive crude oil, but also by limited regional refinery capacity and other factors.

Unlike recent years, escalating regional tensions overseas have not been a major factor in the price increase and analysts expect the increase will slow as production concerns are addressed, AAA said.
