WASHINGTON (August 6, 2012)--Army 1st Sgt. Russell R. Bell, 37, of Tyler, died Thursday in Kandahar Province Afghanistan after an attack in which a homemade bomb was used, the military said.

Staff Sgt. Matthew S. Sitton, 26, of Largo, Fla., also died.

Further details were not provided.

They were both assigned to the 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, from Fort Bragg, N.C.
