AUSTIN (March 18, 2013)--The Transportation Security Administration says it’s implementing an expedited screening program for passengers at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport on Tuesday.
TSA's PreCheck program will be available at the second checkpoint, closest to American Airlines counters.
The program allows qualified passengers to go through an expedited security process which allows them to keep their shoes and light outerwear on.
Select frequent flyers and members of the CBP Global Entry Program are eligible to participate when traveling domestically.
TSA PreCheck is intended to enhance security by allowing employees to focus more on "high-risk" threats as well as improve passenger flow at security checkpoints.
TSA predicts the new program to be available in 40 airports across the country for most major airlines by the end of March.
