HURST (March 25, 2013)--The death of a 3-year-old Hurst girl, Anastasia Williams, has been ruled a homicide, but no arrests have yet been made, police said Monday.
The girl died Friday of what the Tarrant County medical examiner's office listed as a laceration of the liver from blunt trauma to the stomach during an assault.
Her death was a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said.
Police say the girl was in the care of her father at a Hurst apartment at the time of her death.
Her mother was not there.
Hurst Assistant Police Chief Richard Winstanley told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram there were "indications of prior bruising before she was found Friday."
Child Protective Services officials also are investigating. A CPS spokeswoman says there is no record of previous contact with the family.
