BEAUMONT (April 17, 2013)—Twelve contract workers were hurt Wednesday in a fire at an ExxonMobil refinery in Southeast Texas, a company spokeswoman said.
Six of those hurt Wednesday at the refinery in Beaumont were being transported to hospitals for further treatment, spokeswoman Rachael L. Moore said in a statement.
She said their conditions were not immediately known.
The fire happened at around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in a process unit that was down for maintenance at the refinery.
The company says the fire was quickly brought under control and has been extinguished.
ExxonMobil says all employees and contractors working in the area of the process unit have been accounted for.
