PALESTINE (October 16, 2012)--An autopsy has been ordered after human remains were found on some rural East Texas property, officials said.
The Anderson County Sheriff's Office said the owners of the land near Palestine discovered the remains late Sunday.
Chief Deputy Troy Black said the Texas Rangers have been summoned to help with the investigation.
Black said the remains were so decomposed that authorities could not immediately identify the person's race, sex or age.
