BALTIMORE (January 16, 2014) A Baltimore man was in custody Thursday in Maryland in connection with theft of eight purses worth about $200,000 from a home in Texas.
Edward Bryant, 40, of Baltimore was held on a fugitive warrant, police said.
The warrants in Texas charge Bryant with burglary and theft over $100,000.
Texas authorities have started extradition proceedings in order to return him to the state to face the charges.
Police in West University Place say eight Hermes bags were stolen on Dec. 7 from a home.
Bryant and another person were later identified as suspects.
University Place police contacted Maryland authorities this week and Bryant was arrested Tuesday at his home.
Police say four of the bags, ranging in value from $15,000 to $38,000 each, were recovered at another location.
The search for the second suspect continues.
