HOUSTON (August 23, 2013)—Christopher Stoernell, 36, was free on bond Friday after he was charged with murder in the shooting death of a 17-year-old girl in 1994 who was his girlfriend.
Ruth Majewski was killed at her parent’s home in Harris County.
Stoernell, who now lives in Michigan, was charged last week and turned himself in, deputies said.
He was released after posting $50,000 bond.
Witnesses at the time of the shooting said Stoernell was acting recklessly with a .22 caliber pistol before he and Majewski went into a bedroom and then they heard a gunshot, Sgt. Eric Clegg said.
Clegg says Storenell told investigators at the time that Majewski shot herself.
