Minor Earthquake Rocks Small Texas Town

TIMPSON (December 8, 2012)--A minor earthquake has occurred near the small East Texas town of Timpson.

The U.S. Geological Survey said on its website that the 2.8-magnitude earthquake struck Friday about 3 miles from Timpson, a town of about 1,000 people about 70 miles southeast of Tyler.

The USGS website said the earthquake occurred at 1:38 p.m.

No damage was reported.
