CROWLEY (July 8, 2014) Yasmin Lewis, 32, the mother of a 12-year-old girl who died after falling off the trunk of a moving car following a trip to a community swimming pool in Crowley, has been arrested.
Lewis was facing a charge of reckless injury to a child causing seriously bodily injury Tuesday in the death of her daughter, Octavia Watkins, police said.
Lewis was free on bond Tuesday.
Lewis was a passenger in a car driven by Kisha Young as they and six children left a community pool on June 17.
The six children were on the trunk and hood because of their wet swimming suits, police said.
Octavia and three other children fell off the trunk.
She died eight days later.
Young was charged with drunken driving and other offenses.
