DALLAS (September 26, 2013)--Big Tex, the 55-foot-tall symbol of the State Fair of Texas was unveiled Thursday, one day earlier than scheduled.
Big Tex was supposed to be revealed Friday, but that was before photographers in television news helicopters captured video of the head surrounded on four sides by draping.
Fair officials then announced that because of the wind, they would do the unveiling Thursday afternoon.
Big Tex was rebuilt for this year after going up in flames in the closing days of the fair last year.
He has a cowboy hat, a red-white-and-blue star shirt, jeans and boots with the American and Texas flags.
Big Tex won’t regain his voice until the fair opens Friday.
