SAN ANTONIO (January 5, 2013)--A Texas sheriff's deputy has been arrested after a DWI-related crash in which police say officers twice used a stun gun in order to get her out of the car.
San Antonio police say Bexar County Deputy Susanna Cervantes, a detention officer, was arrested Thursday night on charges of drunken driving, assault of a public servant causing bodily injury and retaliation.
Police say after Cervantes' car hit concrete poles, she struggled when they tried to get her out and then reached for something in the middle console.
An officer used the stun gun to subdue her.
Authorities say Cervantes already was on unpaid leave after her arrest last fall in connection with an incident in which the windows of a patrol car were kicked out after a domestic disturbance call.
