FORT WORTH (June 26, 2012)—An officer shot and killed a suspected gunman early Tuesday in the parking lot of a hotel in Fort Worth after responding to a call about a shooting that left a hotel guest critically injured.
The first shooting was the result of an argument early Tuesday between two men in the driveway of the hotel off Interstate 30, police said.
The manager of the Hotel Trinity just south of I-30 called 911 shortly before 4 a.m. after hearing the gunfire.
Officers who responded confronted the suspected gunman who refused to put down his gun and instead opened fire.
An officer returned fire and shot the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators did not immediately provide additional information on the wounded man or what led to the argument.
Police say the victim had been staying at the hotel with his two children.
Further information about the youngsters weren't immediately available.
