AUSTIN (August 15, 2012)--The restored Texas Governor's Mansion has been used for its first official event and some former residents were invited.
Gov. Rick Perry and his wife, Anita, hosted a luncheon and tour of the historic structure Tuesday in Austin.
Guests included former Gov. Mark White and his wife, Linda, plus relatives of several previous Texas governors.
Renovation of the 156-year-old mansion was completed last month at a cost of about $25 million.
The residence was nearly destroyed in a fire in 2008 while the restoration process was under way.
No one has been charged in the fire, which was ruled arson.
