Body Of Missing Texas High School Football Player Recovered

COPPELL (October 19, 2012)—Searchers have recovered the body of a Coppell High School football player who disappeared after jumping from a cliff into Possum Kingdom Lake while on an outing with teammates.

The body of Jacob Logan, 17, was found just before 9:30 p.m. Thursday near the base of the cliff from which he jumped.

Brazos River Authority spokeswoman Judi Pierce says she had few details of the recovery, but she said the waters in that area vary from 25 to 80 feet in depth.

The senior wide receiver for Coppell, which is one of the state's top-ranked teams, disappeared Sunday while swimming with friends.

Thursday a deep-water diving team rejoined the expanded search of the murky lake after crews using sonar failed Wednesday to turn up any sign of Logan.

Coppell, which is ranked No. 4 in the latest Associated Press Class 5A football poll, plays Flower Mound Friday night.

Players will wear Logan’s number on their jerseys.

A balloon release is planned for Coppell’s next home game.
