CANTON (March 25, 2013)—Larry Maples, 44, of Ben Wheeler, was jailed Monday, charged with capital murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the shooting death of his wife, who was killed after he found her with another man, who was also shot, authorities said.
He was ordered held without bond.
Van Zandt County Sheriff Lindsey Ray said Heather Maples, 34, was pronounced dead Sunday at the home near Canton.
Moses Clemente, 47, was also shot.
He was in critical condition Monday at a hospital, but is expected to recover, authorities said.
Ray says the shooting occurred at around 6 a.m. Sunday after Larry Maples saw his wife's vehicle at the home and entered through an unlocked door.
Maples called 911 after the shooting.
Ray says Heather Maples and Clemente had a relationship before she married Larry Maples.
