PORTLAND (June 26, 2012)—Police in Portland north of Corpus Christi are investigating a weekend shooting that left one teenage woman dead and a second wounded at a city park.

Portland police Chief Randy Wright told the Corpus Christi Caller-Times the motive for the attack on Mollie Olgin, 19, of Ingleside and Mary Chapa, 18 of Sinton is unknown.

Olgin died at the scene.

Chapa was in serious but stable condition Tuesday at a hospital.

Both victims were shot in the head, police said.

Wright said a resident who lives near the park reported hearing two loud bangs just before midnight Friday, but thought the noise was from firecrackers.

Visitors to the park discovered the women Saturday in tall grass below an observation deck in Violet Andrews Park.
