ALVIN (August 14, 2012)—A standoff ended early Tuesday in the parking lot of an apartment complex in Alvin when officers shot and killed a man who was suspected of shooting his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend.
The woman wasn’t hurt and her boyfriend’s wounds were not life threatening, police said.
The names of the gunman, the woman and the boyfriend weren’t immediately released.
The incident started Monday night when the suspect arrived at the apartment complex, confronted the woman and shot the other man.
The gunman then forced the woman into a vehicle.
Alvin police Chief Mike Merkel said the gunman was shot when he appeared to be preparing to shoot his ex-girlfriend.
Merkel says the man evidently lost his job recently and was upset about the woman's new relationship.
