AUSTIN (November 30, 2012)—Judge Lawrence Meyers, the senior judge on the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, has paid a disputed 2008 speeding ticket and a warrant for his arrest has been dropped.
On Thursday Meyers paid the nearly $536 fine online.
He had disputed a municipal citation for driving 19 miles per hour over the speed limit on Interstate 35.
Meyers originally pleaded not guilty but says he missed an Austin court appearance because he wasn't informed of the date.
He pleaded no contest in 2010, but says he did not pay the $193 fine to preserve his right to appeal.
Meyers pleaded guilty Aug. 8 and had two months to pay the fine, including court costs and fees.
A judge issued the warrant on Oct. 20.
