RICHMOND (February 24, 2013)—A stray bullet that struck a 9-year-old in a rural area west of Houston bullet may have come from a nearby gun range, authorities said.
Fort Bend County sheriff's spokesman Bob Haenel said the boy was walking with his grandfather in a rural area about 35 miles west of Houston Saturday afternoon when there was a loud noise.
Moments later the boy fell to the ground with a gunshot wound to the leg.
The grandfather took the boy to an emergency room.
His injuries weren’t life threatening.
Haenel says a gun range is nearby the site of the shooting.
Authorities were investigating Sunday.
