DALLAS (October 24, 2012)--A man who was walking on railroad tracks in Dallas was struck and killed by a commuter train Wednesday.
Dallas Area Rapid Transit spokesman Morgan Lyons said the accident involved a Trinity Railway Express train that was going about 55 miles per hour.
Officials did not immediately identify the victim, who was hit while near a trestle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lyons said nobody on board the westbound train was injured.
DART and the Fort Worth Transportation Authority co-own the Trinity Railway Express, which provides commuter rail service between Dallas and Fort Worth.
Service on the TRE resumed after a brief delay.
