FORT CARSON, Colo. (August 15, 2012)—Hensel Phelps Construction Co. of Austin has been awarded a $44.8 million contract to build an aircraft hangar at Fort Carson, Colo., the Defense Department announced.

Work should be completed in February 2014.

Fort Carson will be the home of a new Army helicopter brigade to supplement the 4th Infantry Division based at the post outside Colorado Springs.

The 13th Combat Aviation Brigade will have as many as 2,700 soldiers and 113 helicopters.

Construction to accommodate the brigade is expected to take four years and cost a total of about $730 million.
