Texas Grandmother Arrested In Plot To Plant Cocaine In Car

GILBERT, Ariz. (October 17, 2013)--A Texas woman is accused of telling her 9-year-old granddaughter to plant drugs in her son-in-law's car in Gilbert, Ariz., so she could gain full-time custody of the girl.

SanJuanita Carbajal, 58, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of child abuse, Gilbert police said.

She has limited custody of her granddaughter, authorities said.

Police suspect she gave the child several packets containing 4 grams of cocaine and told her where to put them in her father's vehicle.

Carbajal is also accused of instructing her granddaughter to tell people about the drugs at her elementary school and show one of the baggies to a teacher.

Authorities used a test kit to determine the substance was cocaine.
