Texas Man Convicted Of Abducting Ex-Girlfriend Sentenced

CORPUS CHRISTI (November 8, 2012)-- Matthew Skodzinsky, 37, of Corpus Christi, has been sentenced to life in prison for beating his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend and then abducting her.

He was convicted of burglary with attempt to commit aggravated assault and burglary with attempt to commit kidnapping.

Prosecutors say Skodzinsky broke into the couple's house last June and attacked the man.

Prosecutors say Skodzinsky told the woman he would stop the beating if she left with him.

Investigators say Skodzinsky then drove with the woman to a hotel and he was paying for the room when she managed to escape.

Jurors also ordered Skodzinsky to pay a $20,000 fine.
