GARLAND (October 19, 2012)--A Dallas County jury sentenced a man who killed his estranged wife's lover to a 15 years in prison after finding that the shooting was an act of "sudden passion" that was committed after the defendant received a graphic photo of his wife and the man engaged in a sex act.
The jury found that Mark Lynn Milligan, 47, of Garland shot Jesus Dominguez, 36, in an act of "sudden passion," which downgraded his punishment range.
Prosecutors were seeking a sentence of 25 years to life.
Milligan could be eligible for parole in 7½ years.
Earlier in the day Thursday, jurors convicted Milligan in the killing of the tattoo artist in October 2011.
It's unclear whether Milligan's wife or Dominguez sent the photo.
