EL PASO (February 22, 2013)—A jury in El Paso has acquitted Fort Bliss Spc. Tyrone Head, who was charged with murder in the shooting deaths of two fellow soldiers during an argument outside of a bar.
The defense said Head fired into the air during the incident in January 2012 and didn’t shoot anyone, but prosecutors said he was charged because his actions amounted to a threat that led to the deaths of two privates, Preston Brown and Damien Bailey.
Investigators said the confrontation involved Head and some friends and a group with Craig Allen Graham.
Witnesses testified Head fired into the air and Graham returned fire, allegedly shooting Brown and Bailey.
Graham is charged with capital murder and is awaiting trial.
