HOUSTON (September 26, 2013)--A 14-year-old Houston boy was stabbed Thursday morning while he was protecting a girl from an attack by one of her relatives as the children waited at a school bus stop, Houston police spokeswoman Jodi Silva said.
The man tried to grab the girl Thursday morning, the boy intervened and the man ran away, Silva said.
The boy was cut but his injuries were not life-threatening, Silva said.
The teenager was in stable condition when he was taken to a hospital.
The girl wasn't hurt.
Police didn't immediately have additional information about the attacker, a possible motive or his exact relationship to the girl.
The boy attends Westside High School, Houston Independent School district officials said.
Security will be increased at the bus stop, district officials said.
