CASPER, Wyo. (June 16, 2012)—Sam Houston State University students Jeremy Melancon and Sterling Crawley have converted an old ambulance into a traveling dorm room of sorts.
They were in Casper this past week for the College National Finals Rodeo.
Melancon told the Casper Star-Tribune that the vehicle gets only 12 miles per gallon but has enough sleeping room to allow the two students to avoid the expense of hotel accommodations for three or more people.
Melancon said the ambulance it has delivered the rodeo travel partners to about 100 competitions since they acquired it in October 2010.
The vehicle has a bunk bed, foldout couch and shower and is painted a sharp, solid black on the outside.
