SAN MARCOS (July 3, 2012)—Christina Suzanne Lyons, the director of a home daycare center in Kyle, has been convicted of capital murder charge in the death of a 10-week-old child left in her care.

Prosecutors weren’t seeking the death penalty so the guilty verdict Monday from a Hays County jury means Lyons was automatically sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.

Prosecutors say she caused intentional blunt force trauma to the head of Benjamin Spencer on Nov. 18, 2011 at her home child-care center in Kyle on Nov. 18.

The child died on Nov. 25, 2011.

Lyons hinted that her 4-year-old daughter caused the child's death while she was out of the room.
