DALHART (June 28, 2012)—Lenora Pruitt of Dalhart was jailed Thursday, charged with murder in the death of her common-law husband who was found dead a week after he was beaten with a wrench.
Dalhart police said Thursday that Pruitt did not seek medical help for the man, Cody Freeman.
Sgt. David Conner said Pruitt was charged with murder.
Her bond was set at $100,000.
She was arrested Monday.
Conner says police are investigating why the couple argued on June 15 before their sons, ages 7 and 4.
Pruitt is accused of hitting Freeman in the head with a socket wrench.
Pruitt and the boys were home with Freeman until she found him dead June 22.
Police said Freeman evidently suffered a brain injury, but could still move and talk.
The children were with relatives in Clovis, N.M. Friday.
