DALLAS (March 23, 2013)—David Herron, 29, and Daniel Brooks, 28, were in custody Saturday, charged with capital murder in the slaying earlier this month of a 79-year-old woman who was killed in her home in Dallas.
Officers found Avanell Cowgill dead on March 9 after one of her daughters asked authorities to check on the woman because she could not reach her.
Police say the two men used credit cards stolen from the murdered woman to buy electronics and they were tracked down through the purchases.
The two were found in the jail in suburban Richardson, where they were arrested earlier this week for an unrelated theft.
They're held in lieu of $1 million bond each.
