Witnesses Questioned After Boys Pushing Disabled Truck Struck, Killed

ALVIN (December 10, 2012)--Investigators in Alvin were still interviewing witnesses Monday after a car slammed into a pickup truck that two young boys were helping their father push, killing both of the youngsters.

The man who was driving the car later died of a gunshot wound to the head.

David Barajas II, 12, and his brother Caleb, 11, were pushing the pickup with their father Friday night just yards from their home in Alvin when the car slammed into them.

David Barajas died at the scene and his brother died later at a hospital.

Their father was injured.

Authorities found the car's driver, Jose Ines Banda, 20, with a gunshot wound to the head.

He later died at a hospital.

Initially authorities said it wasn’t clear whether Banda was driving or whether someone else was behind the wheel and fled after the accident.

Brazoria County sheriff's investigator Dominick Sanders said witnesses heard gunshots three minutes after the first 911 call about the accident.

Authorities haven't named any suspects in Banda's death.
