Two Texas Construction Workers Killed In Retaining Wall Collapse

JACKSONVILLE (August 7, 2012)--A retaining wall collapse Monday near Lake Jacksonville in East Texas left two construction workers dead and another hurt, the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office said.

Sheriff James Campbell said the workers were trying to install reinforcing steel when a 30-foot section of the concrete and rock wall fell.

Campbell said the wall was about 12 to 15 feet tall and a foot thick.

Investigators say Donald Starling, 60, and Hollis Morris, 68, both of Tyler, died at the scene.

The older man's son, Rodney Morris, 45, of Tyler, suffered injuries that weren’t believed to be life threatening.
