Pint-Sized Patrolman Zaps Speeders Save Email Print

A | A | A

(July 17, 2008)--Landon Wilburn, an 11-year-old from Louisville, Ky., is taking aim at speeders in his neighborhood with his radar gun.

Landon wears a reflective vest and a bicycle helmet as he points his Hot Wheels speed gun at cars records just how fast they're going.

One neighbor told The Courier-Journal some of the speeders slam on their brakes when they see the kid cop with the toy speed gun.

City officials say they'll consider the neighborhood for speed bumps.

How sad is it that the traffic laws have to be enforced by an 11 year old? I know police departments are undermanned, but hav eyou driven anywhere lately? You take your life in your own hands every time you get on the road. People compare it to NASCAR, but at least in NASCAR you have a pretty good idea of where the other guy is going, and you have a spotter to help you see. On the public roadways, you're on your own... good luck!! Shame on the drivers who have no regard for laws, spped limits, and fellow motorists. Don't injure or kill me or my family because you want to be stupid. And KUDOS to Landon Wilburn for taking a stand and taking his neighborhood back from the idiots!!!
