(August 25, 2008)—Authorities have solved the mystery of thefts from the offices of a federal bankruptcy judge in Atlanta.
Working with evidence that included a half-eaten apple and some paw prints, investigators discovered that the thief was a raccoon that was living in the ceiling above the judge’s offices.
One court clerk even made a "wanted" poster with a raccoon's picture on it.
In the end, the raccoon was tripped up by some tuna fish, which was used to bait a trap.
The manager of the Atlanta Federal Building said the animal would be set free a long, long way from downtown.
