(August 29, 2008)—Pole-dancing instructor Stephanie Babines is suing after officials in Adams Township in suburban Pittsburgh denied her a permit for a studio she wants to open because it would be a sexually oriented business.
While she teaches pole dancing and what she calls "SeXXXercise," Babines says her studio wouldn't be a strip joint.
She notes her students keep their clothes on and outsiders aren't allowed to watch her classes.
The suit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union charges the township is violating Babines' constitutional rights.
